Frequently Asked
Questions About Reiki
Reiki is a
Japanese healing-art form.
It is a gentle hands-on form, which uses the universal life-force energy
that permeates all things (this is the same energy as “Chi” and “Prana”.
During a Reiki session, the practitioner places their hands lightly on or
above the body. The head, front, back, arms, legs and feet are all
treated. Clothes do not hamper this energy, so it is not necessary to
undress. A full session lasts approximately 45 minutes. Clients can also
make appointments for 20 minutes or 30 minutes sessions. You control if
the energy is received and how it is used. Your own body and energy system
will channel the energy where it is most needed. Reiki goes to the highest
healing good. Reiki is now being used widely in hospitals and hospice
programs around the world. In addition, many veterinarians will use it in
their animal clinics.
Benefits of Reiki
Physical:
Reiki balances the energy systems of the body. Quite often, people
experience freedom from aches and pains (Reiki can be used to heal injuries
faster). It is normal to go into a meditative state or even fall asleep
during a session. Most people experience relaxation and a release of
tension. It is very pleasant and gentle. Reiki can detoxify the body, so
it is important to drink plenty of water afterwards.
Mental:
Reiki helps us to release everyday consciousness and slip into a meditative
state. We may experience resolution or insight into certain situations in
our lives. Like all meditative states, it is easier to experience peace of
mind.
Emotional:
Reiki can help dissolve negative emotional energy, allowing us to feel and
experience more love, understanding, and compassion for others and
ourselves. It can be cathartic, helping us to realize feelings of pain,
anger, shame – or even help us to laugh and feel joy. This leads to healing
emotional issues.
Spiritual:
Reiki helps us to experience our higher self. Once freed of negative
blocks, our vibrational rate rises, and we more easily experience our true
nature. Moving into a meditative state, our consciousness in expanded. We
can access and manifest infinite spiritual qualities such as creativity,
love, peace, wisdom and healing. It is not necessary to have any spiritual
belief system to give or receive Reiki. Many people consider the process
very spiritual, however, if this is not an area you are interested in
addressing, Reiki can be used for the areas outlined above.
After One
Takes a Class Can A Student ever fail at giving Reiki?
You can’t fail because you don’t have to do anything but put your hands on
the person, pet or plant you want to receive Reiki. Reiki may not always do
what you wanted it to do or thought it would do. It does what needs to be
done. It goes to the root cause of problems which may be different than
surface symptoms. Once the root cause is fixed, the symptoms disappear.
What if I
forget what I learned in class and do it wrong?
You can’t do Reiki wrong. All you need to do is put your hands on whomever
or whatever you want to receive the energy. The Reiki will do the rest.
Even if you put your hands on their head and the problem is in their feet,
the Reiki will go where it needs to and do what needs to be done. It always
works for the recipient’s highest and best good.
Can I harm
someone if I give them too much Reiki?
Since the amount of Reiki received is controlled by the person receiving,
not the person giving it, you can’t overdose on it. It’s like the automatic
pumps at the gas station, when the tank is full, the pump is turned off.
The total amount of gas received is controlled by the capacity of the tank,
not the person holding the nozzle. Your hands are the nozzle for pumping
Reiki, the person receiving it turns it off when they are full. They can’t
over dose. No one has ever been harmed by Reiki.
